History comes to life when fur trader George Nelson (1786-1859), played by a costumed interpreter from the Minnesota Historical Society, gives a fascinating view of daily life in the fur trade, and talks about what Minnesota was like before it became a state. Free. All ages welcome. Offered in partnership with the Mower County Historical Society and the Library.

Attention young ladies ages 9-14! Are you prepared to attend the finest dinner parties? Do you know how best to introduce yourself? Can you sip tea with grace and ease? Perhaps it's time to enroll in the pre-eminent Etiquette School for Young Ladies! Cost is $5.00 per person. Register at the Hormel Historic Home, 208 4th Ave. NW (433-4243). Adults also welcome. Presented by the Library and the Hormel Historic Home.

During Open Viewings, selected volumes of The Saint John's Bible will be available for viewing outside the case. Additional times by prior arrangement only. 

Summer Months:  Scheduled Open Viewing times are limited during summer months, but groups and out-of-town visitors are encouraged to contact the library to request a special appointment.  The library will accommodate as many requests as staff and volunteer availability allow.
